Site Credits

This web-site is powered by an application framework, and a companion HTML-templating toolkit, both written in the Perl programming language. This combination of software tools provides the consistent “look and feel” and behavior found throughout the site, including the menu-structure, breadcrumbs, and customized meta-tags. The XML site-map (used by search-engines) is also generated in this way, so that it automatically reflects the current content of the site and the correct modification-date of all elements.

Although these tools comprise a framework, the site is obviously “not a blog.”   The web-development techniques used here allow the very-rapid development of robust, professional-grade sites, without limiting in any way how the site looks, feels, or operates.   The sites thus produced are also quite “hacker”-resistant.

This site was developed by Sundial Services for itself, and it is representative of the kind of site that might be required by any on-line business of its type. (The corresponding administrative site, used to manage this one, is not accessible by means of the Internet, but it was also built using the same techniques.)   This site is a fairly-typical example of what might be called a “product brochure” site; probably the most-frequently found type of business web-site on the Internet.   Its primary business purpose is to describe the company's products and services, and to provide the means for customer contact and feedback.
